Master Bathroom Remodeling

Master Bathroom Remodeling

September 1, 2019

This Master Bath remodeling project in Downers Grove was such a great project. Sue contacted us to get an estimate for their Master Bath renovation, which stemmed from a broken whirlpool tub in their master bath. After weighing their options, they opted to remodel the bathroom to better suit their style and address some of their “issues” with the space rather than repair the tub.

During our initial on-site design consultation with them, they requested that they would rather not have a tub in the Master Bath, and increase the shower size if possible. The shower was in a separate room with the toilet, and felt dark/cramped even with can lights in the ceiling. We had several meetings with Sue and Cea to discuss their wants/needs for their remodeled space, and to get a sense of their style to personalize the remodel. Through these meetings, we were able to tune the projects to their personalities.

The final design relocated several key elements within the space. With the omission of the whirlpool tub, we were able to position a large double bowl vanity with plenty of storage into that space.

Being able to provide a complete project to them was key in the decision making. Having the bath design firm and bath contractor in the same office, we were able to prep the project to move smoothly from start to finish. Since Kitchens and Spaces does not subcontract our installations, we are always in complete control of the project.

The wall going into the toilet/shower room was shortened in height and increased the opening width, which allowed more natural lighting into the space, and eliminated the “cave” feeling they had.

We were also able to gain a few additional inches into the shower space, where we added a custom niche in the back wall and a long bench seat.
