What is Universal Design?

Universal Design is a guide for designing spaces to be usable and accessible for all members of society including those with issues and disabilities including, but not limited to:

• Challenges/ disabilities associated with aging
• Mobility limitations
• Obesity
• Wheelchair confinement

We need homes that are comfortable, usable and can accommodate us throughout our lifetime.  Universal Design provides guidelines to help us achieve these goals, while accommodating the needs of those with disabilities and also just making everyday life easier for everyone.
